Myopia Control

Myopia control helps slow the progression of short-sightedness in children as their eyes grow. At Rose Optometry in Berry, we provide personalised myopia management, with options including specialised contact lenses and orthokeratology (Ortho-K). We assess your child's vision, prescription and eye health to determine the most appropriate approach for their needs.

Rose Optometry provides children's eye care and myopia control in Berry for families from Nowra, Kiama and across the Shoalhaven.

More

Myopia causes distant objects to appear blurry and often develops or progresses throughout childhood. Higher levels of myopia are associated with an increased risk of certain eye health complications later in life, making early assessment and ongoing monitoring important.

Myopia management aims to slow prescription changes rather than simply correct blurred vision. Depending on your child's age, prescription and individual needs, treatment options may include specialised myopia control contact lenses or orthokeratology (Ortho-K), which uses specially designed lenses worn overnight to temporarily reshape the cornea.

Regular eye examinations allow us to monitor changes in your child's prescription and eye health, assess how well their management plan is working, and adjust the approach when needed.

If your child is becoming more short-sighted, squinting to see distant objects or struggling to see the board at school, an assessment can help determine whether myopia management is appropriate.
