Meet your optometrist - Anna Richter
Anna Richter - Senior Optometrist at Rose Optometry.
Anna is happy to call the Shoalhaven home, but if you listen to her pronounce words like 'plant' and 'graph' you'll realise she didn't grow up in NSW... Adelaide born and bred she studied at Flinders University before moving to the Shoalhaven in 2018 and starting work as an optometrist. The initial idea was to move back to Adelaide after a couple of years, but she'd become so connected in the community, mostly through her local church, that the decision to stay in the Shoalhaven felt like the right one. After eight years working between Nowra & Vincentia, Anna is excited to now be working in one location at Rose Optometry, Berry.
Anna loves the relational side of optometry- getting to know her patients- and how this grows over the years of being someone's practitioner. There are also moments at work when Anna is the 'nerdy optometrist' because she really is fascinated by the eyes and our vision! Anna manages all areas of optometry from children's vision, spectacles and contact lenses (including rigid contact lenses and Orthokeratology), to ocular disease management, red eyes and ocular emergencies (Anna quite enjoys removing foreign bodies from the eye!) Anna values clear communication with her patients and always takes the time to explain her findings, often with the use of her 3-D eye model, as well as referring to any scans or photos she's taken of the eyes.
Outside optometry Anna has many other interests. Ask her how her running is going or if she's training for another event soon- she's always happy to talk about running! But she's happy with other sedentary activities too: playing music at church or home or in the local community musical theatre shows, enjoying a cuppa with a home-made biscuit, or knitting the next pair of socks.
